We are seeking a highly experienced Ventilation Officer to monitor and control the installation and commissioning of ventilation systems. The successful candidate will rotate and monitor all the systems, including the force and exhaust systems, that will need to be installed.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and control the installation and commissioning of ventilation systems.
Measure and calculate fan performance.
Plan, organise, and monitor work in own area of responsibility.
Monitor underground occupational exposure conditions for dust control, air, gases and vapours, noise, water temperature, and illumination.
Monitor and control ventilation and occupational hygiene sampling, testing, and make recommendations for improvement.
Monitor and manage the sanitation methods in the workplace.
Compile ventilation and occupational hygiene reports.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12.
Chamber of Mines Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control is essential.
Minimum 5 years, of which 3 years are after obtaining the Chamber of Mines intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control.
Valid driver’s license and own transport will be an added advantage.
Computer Literacy is essential.
Knowledge
Able to present information in a report format.
Basic knowledge and understanding of airborne pollutants and their control measures.
Knowledge of the most common harmful gases and vapours.
Knowledge of airflow calculations and principles of airflow in a ventilation circuit.
Knowledge and understanding of emergency preparedness and response.
